The Cap and Gown Brigade: Reflections of College Through the Eyes of Mature Students

Edited by Bernadette Bianchi :

You’ve thought about it, talked about it, dreamed of it, checked out courses, attended open days, but what is it really like to return to education at twenty-five or sixty-five? This collection of nine essays by former mature students, Arts graduates from St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, offers a unique insight into the experience. They take the reader from the excitement of the first day, to the challenge of the first essay, engagement with new ideas, fun and laughter of friendship, and ultimately to the pride of graduation.

Having returned to education the editor, Bernadette Bianchi, graduated in English and History and completed a Masters Degree in History in 2007. She is now actively involved in Adult Education.

This inspiring book is a must for anyone looking for a change and a challenge. It will be launched in St. Patrick’s College on Valentine's Day, Monday, 14th February 2011, at 6:15pm. It is on sale in Manor Books, Church Road, Malahide and from the editor for €8.95.
