The Pop Tarts, namely Karen Boone, who is captain,; Clare Welsh; and Sally-Anne Edwards; all of whom are from Malahide, and Judith Spring who is from Killiney, scooped the title of the fastest all-female team to complete the arduous 100km event.

The ladies are all work colleagues at Kellogg’s Europe, based in Swords, Co. Dublin.

The event required teams of four to trek by day and night without sleep to complete a 100km course inside 36 hours from Newcastle to Carlingford.

From a field of 102 teams that started the event, Pop Tarts was the fastest all-female team to cross the finishing line. They finished seventh overall, completing the 62-mile route in the magnificent time of 24 hours 26 minutes and 55 seconds.

The team shall collect their award for their fantastic achievement at a ceremony held in Carlingford.

Well done to all who took part!
