Malahide 2010 Brochure / Directory

Thank you to the thirty plus people who attended the pre-Christmas social event in Gibney's last week. We took that opportunity to do a little networking and to launch the Malahide Directory. The Directory has been delivered to 8000 Malahide homes and will soon also be available through local businesses. Supporting local business has been our theme at the end of 2009 and I hope that we can successfully develop it into 2010.On behalf of all the Chamber Committee members I wish you and yours a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Malahide Village Christmas Lights Go Green!

In a difficult year for everyone, the Malahide Chamber felt it important to ensure the Village entered the festive season in good spirits. Despite the economy they decided to push ahead with the annual lighting of the Village which adds to the atmosphere and special Village feel of Malahide. However, the Chamber also undertook to both reduce the cost by 30% and to re-equip the town with low energy lighting that will use just 10% of the previous electricity consumed.

The project was lead by local businessman Gerry Walsh of Iridium Ventures. To bring down the cost volunteers were sought to put up the lights and in November, twenty volunteers climbed ladders, strung lights and operated the Cherry picker to get everything in place for the Christmas. Local companies such as IT Rollout and REW electrical suppliers contributed personnel and material to complete the project on time and in budget.

Local Malahide businesses along with Fingal County Council and the Malahide Forum fund this project. Malahide ends the year with a project that involved all the community in a positive effort to bring new light to the town.
